10 Best Solar Pool Cleaners 2026 in the United States

The Betta SE Plus is a solar-powered robotic pool cleaner designed to skim the surface of your pool efficiently. One of its standout features is the impressive 30-hour continuous cleaning battery life, which ensures that your pool remains clean without the need for frequent recharging. The dual charging options—solar charging for sunny days and wall charging for cloudy or rainy days—provide flexibility and convenience, making it less likely that your cleaning routine is interrupted. Its ability to prevent debris from settling at the bottom enhances pool hygiene.

The product is designed to adapt to various pool types, thanks to its shallow water safeguard that helps it avoid getting stuck at pool stairs. The twin Salt Chlorine Tolerant motors add durability and effectiveness, particularly in pools with saltwater systems. The large fine-mesh debris basket is capable of capturing a variety of debris, including leaves, dust, pollen, insects, and pet hair, making maintenance easier.

For navigation, the ultrasonic radar helps in obstacle detection, and the UV-resistant coating ensures longevity under the sun. However, the product does have some limitations. It requires a minimum water depth of 3.5 inches, making it unsuitable for very shallow pools or infinity pools. Additionally, it weighs nearly 15 pounds, which could be cumbersome for some users to handle. The inclusion of a wireless remote control and a 1-year warranty adds to its user-friendly appeal. If you are looking for a robust and versatile pool cleaner that minimizes maintenance hassles, the Betta SE Plus could be a valuable addition to your pool care toolkit.

The Betta SE Solar Powered Automatic Robotic Pool Surface Skimmer Cleaner is a standout option in the solar-pool-cleaners category, designed to operate entirely on solar power. With its impressive 30-hour battery life, it ensures continuous cleaning even during less sunny days, making it highly reliable. The cleaner's Aqua Dynamics design and swift recharge time (5-6 hours) maximize its operational efficiency.

For filtration, the large fine-mesh debris basket effectively captures leaves, dust, pollen, and other floating debris, and it's easy to clean without removing the device from the pool, which adds to its convenience. The twin Salt Chlorine Tolerant motors are a notable feature, allowing it to function in both freshwater and saltwater pools without compromising performance. Additionally, its UV-resistant coating and ultrasonic radar enhance durability and obstacle detection, respectively.

However, it's important to note that the Betta SE requires a minimum water depth of 5 inches and is not suitable for infinity pools, which may limit its usability for some pool types. Also, while it’s efficient at surface cleaning, it lacks climbing ability, so it won't clean pool walls or floors. Despite these constraints, the Betta SE is easy to maintain, making it ideal for those looking for a low-maintenance, energy-efficient pool cleaner. It's backed by a 1-year warranty, providing a measure of confidence in its durability and performance.

The AIPER Surfer S2 is a strong choice for anyone looking for a solar-powered robotic pool cleaner. Thanks to its solar charging, it can clean your pool continuously during sunny days, and when it’s cloudy, a single battery charge can last up to 35 hours, which means less hassle with recharging. Its filtering system is quite fine, trapping very small debris with a 150-micron filter, and it even has a built-in chlorine dispenser to help keep your pool water cleaner between regular treatments. The smart navigation system uses dual sensors and smart algorithms to avoid obstacles and clean edges well, which helps cover most pool areas efficiently.

It also has an anti-stuck design with retractable columns to prevent it from getting trapped on pool steps, and you’ll get alerts through the app if it encounters problems. The accompanying app enhances user control by allowing you to start, stop, schedule cleanings, and steer the cleaner remotely, which adds convenience. The unit is built from durable, UV-resistant materials to last through various weather conditions, backed by a two-year warranty. A couple of things to keep in mind: it is not suitable for infinity pools, and while it climbs pool steps well, its climbing ability mainly focuses on avoiding getting stuck rather than climbing vertical surfaces.

Maintenance should be straightforward but requires occasional cleaning to avoid chemical damage and ensure optimal performance. This robotic skimmer is well-suited for most types of residential pools, especially if you want a low-maintenance cleaner that uses solar power and smart controls.
